The Importance of Girlfriends

You know, the title of this blog should speak for itself.
I've heard Oprah say........until a women hits 40 she doesn't quite get it.  I would have to agree.  At 40 I really got IT!  Well...except for the fact that I still sit in a relatively shitty relationship.  (But always been known  to be in a less than favourable relationship.)  But in terms of everything else........seriously, at 40, I got it!!
I know one thing........my girlfriends...mean the world to me.  They are my life...my true self.....my well being.....and my future!  They will always be there.  Through thick and thin......good and bad.....life and death....I can always count on my girlfriends.  And spending time with them means absolutely EVERYTHING TO ME!!

So in one more sleep, I get to hang out with 3 of my greatest girlfriends..........and we get to do it in New York City.  Now, how cool is that??  I feel like Carrie in Sex and the City writing a blog about "well, whatever Carrie would write about".   Oh how I could write..........would it be fantasy or reality??  I'll never tell.........cause that's what a good girlfriend does!!

What I will tell you is this.........I am really, really, fortunate because most of my girlfriends have come way back from public school and high school.........and I'm 44 now.  Holy Crap, that's a long time!   You know what, they look fabulous!!  And they act fabulous too!!  They are way too much fun!!!!!!!!

We've been through some tough times....we've had and will continue to have the best of times. I can always count on them, and they can always count on me.

Don't EVER let your good friends go....they will keep you alive....they will keep you laughing.....they will get you through the tough times..........and you will get them through theirs.  Love your friends with all your heart - they are your life.  They are what makes life perfect!!

Friends are the perfect definition of LOVE.

(Oh ya, and I was just told I couldn't sleep in my own room - my girlfriends would NEVER say that to me)

Here's to New York City with my girlfriends.......maybe when I get back..........things will change!

Roasting Pumpkin Seeds......

The seeds of the pumpkin can be cleaned off and toasted to serve as a snack or to use in recipes as an ingredient or a garnish. Toasting makes the hulls crisp and edible.

1. Wipe or pick off any pumpkin flesh or strands from the seeds. Sauté the seeds in a little canola oil until lightly browned.

2. Transfer them to a baking sheet and sprinkle with salt.

3. Bake in a preheated 350°F oven until crisp, about 10 minutes.

4. Drain on paper towels, cool and store in a covered container in the refrigerator for up to 1 month

7 Ways To Achieve A Work/Life Balance.......(Great Article)

Thought I would share with you, this little article I came across about how to balance work & life.  I'm sure there is probably a gazillion articles written on this subject but what really got me was her basic approach to the 7 ways of achieving balance.  I just think her points are so down to earth and more importantly, achievable for everyone.  They are basic, no nonsense, common-sense ideas.  And you know what? I think sometimes all of us need a little reminder of how to simplify our lives and live for what is really important to us!  Hope you enjoy.http://blog.speakers.ca/2010/10/worklife-balance-the-dreaded-%E2%80%9Cb%E2%80%9D-word-and-seven-ways-towards-achieving-it/

Put Some Pork On Your Fork..........

It's that time of the season when the resort is celebrating its last weekend of the season with the traditional Thanksgiving feast. It's also that time of year when I get more time to spend in my kitchen. I love to cook and one of my favorite chef's is Lucy Waverman - she is the brains behind most of the recipies for the LCBO Food & Drink book that I pick up faithfully. If you're looking for something a little different this Thanksgiving, give this Bacon-Wrapped Pork Loin with Apples & Sage a try. Happy Thanksgiving everyone.

A Few Laughs From The Past......

So, way back in the year 2007 I started a Blog called Haunting Chaos. I thoroughly enjoyed writing on it and it wasn't long before some of my friends were reading it, then their friends were reading it and so on. Well for some unknown reason, I cannot post to that blog anymore, but I spent some time going through some old posts and I have to admit....I'm pretty funny!! At least I was back in 2007 anyways. So I thought I would share some of my past blogs with you just to get started and kick off this "blogging" thing once again. Kind of show you where it all started. The Blog begins on Monday February 12th, 2007.....it figures it starts in the winter months. My friends always tell me that I tend to go a little "goofy" up here in the great white north all by myself in the winter.......suppose I do.......but I wouldn't trade it for the world.
